Information Systems (IS) Helpdesk

Description:The IS Helpdesk employee will be responsible for performing the tasks and duties outlined below under the guidance and direction of the Information Systems Manager. This position will be required to follow policies and procedures set forth by Physicians East, P.A., abide by the policies and regulations set forth by the Health Information Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), HCFA, and any other state and federal regulatory requirements necessary to perform the functions and technical requirements of the position.
Duties:1. Responsibilities:
• Able to identify and organize support calls
according to priority.
• Distribute calls to technicians and analysts as
necessary.
• Assist with fieldwork as requested.
• Update and maintain company contacts.
• Operates computer for purpose of providing
information to requesting clients and/or
engineers.
• Troubleshoots minor equipment malfunctions and
corrects them as directed by
computer operation manuals, or supervisor.
• Performs task necessary to prepare computer-
provided information for delivery to
requesting clients.
• Able to react to change productively and handle
other essential tasks as assigned.
• Office work as assigned.
• Maintains log of all worked preformed and
processed.
• Other tasks assigned.

2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required of Employee:
• Strong aptitude in OS repairs, spyware and virus
removal, hardware, upgrades and
troubleshooting.
• Ability to read computer instruction manuals and
comprehend directions therein in order to remedy
minor computer equipment malfunctions.
• Knowledge of computer logic in order to perform
task listed under principal duties, and
responsibilities.
• Knowledge of methodology to run computer
systems and to troubleshoot minor
computer equipment malfunctions.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to train others in
computer systems.
• Ability to communicate problems with supervisors
as they become known.
• Must maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to provide customer with outstanding
customer care and service at all times. Additional
or different functions may be assigned from time
to time.

3. Computer Implementations:
• Assist with the implementation of new system
upgrades.
• Assist with training for new upgrades and systems
• Assist with technical support for applications and
systems
• Assist with software implementations that
integrate with current systems (IE: Centricity,
Nextgen, Orchard and other corporate systems
applicable, etc).
• Attend scheduled meetings as necessary to
discuss technical/clinical content needs and
guidelines with each clinic/specialty area.
• Work beyond normal working hours (and
sometimes weekends) to complete
implementation plans and/or upgrades required
by the department and/or organization.

3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions:
(a) can get along with other co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes;
(b) perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or
speaking to others; and (c) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
Qualifications:A two year degree in Computer Science (preferred) plus a minimum of two years on the job work experience or an associate degree in Computer Science or a related curriculum. Expertise preferred using Centricity EMR, Nextgen EPM, Crystal Reporting and SQL database queries.
